Nelly Is Back in the Country Music Saddle

The Rapper Gave Thomas Rhett's "Die A Happy Man" A New Twist

While the rap genre is definitely Nelly's musical home, he seems to enjoy vacationing in the "country." Nelly just released a cover version of Thomas Rhett's recent hit "Die a Happy Man," adding his own smooth twist to the song in a way only Nelly could.

Nelly's TR tribute is actually his third country venture. Who could forget his 2013 remix of the Florida Georgia Line smash hit "Cruise"?

Throwing it even further back, Nelly teamed up with Tim McGraw in 2004 for his song "Over and Over," which he featured on his album Suit.

Is Nelly preparing to officially cross over to country? Unfortunately not. Despite rumors that he might be releasing a country EP, Nelly clarified with Entertainment Weekly that that would not be happening.

"There’s nothing in the world that makes me think I can do a country album," Nelly said. "That’s like Tim McGraw waking up like, ‘Yo, I’m gonna do a rap album.’ Like, ‘Tim, you’re taking the “Over and Over” thing a little too far.'"
