Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris Compile Their Trio Recordings

Unreleased Material to Surface on The Complete Trio Collection

The sessions Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris recorded for their Trio albums are being compiled for a new three-CD set to be released in September.

The two albums — 1987’s Trio and 1999’s Trio II — won three Grammys and sold a combined total of more than 5 million copies worldwide.

In addition to the two albums, the set will include a bonus disc containing with 20 songs, including alternate takes of album tracks like “I’ve Had Enough,” “Making Plans” and “My Dear Companion.” Also featured are 11 unreleased recordings from the trio spanning both album sessions including “Waltz Across Texas Tonight” and the gospel standard “Softly and Tenderly.”

The three-disc set, The Complete Trio Collection, was produced by Harris and is set for release on Sept. 9. On the same date, a single-disc will be released titled My Dear Companion: Selections From the Trio Collection, featuring a mix of songs taken from the three-disc set.

Also arriving is Farther Along, a double-LP set of all the bonus material from full collection. Trio II will be released on vinyl for the first time.
