Zac Brown Faces No Charges in Police Investigation of Florida Drug Bust

Says He "Regrets Poor Judgement" and Was at the "Wrong Place at the Wrong Time"

After news broke on Friday (April 15) that Zac Brown had been at the scene of a drug bust in Palm Beach, Florida, he did exactly what he should have. He apologized.

He doesn’t try to blame someone else.

He doesn’t try to deny his involvement.

He never makes one excuse.

He didn’t delay in explaining the incident to fans and the news media.

Brown took to his website right away after the allegations, first reported by TMZ, started circulating that he was at a party with illegal drugs and strippers at an upscale hotel. He explained that he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“My dad always said nothing good ever happens when you stay out late. It’s a lesson I learned the hard way last week, being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I attended a private gathering at a Miami-area hotel and had only been there for a short time when police officers arrived and arrested two people in the room who had just showed up a few minutes before,” Brown explains.

According to TMZ, Brown was in town for a charity event and was in a hotel suite in the early hours of April 8 when police carried out a raid and arrested three people for possession of cocaine and one person for possession of marijuana.

Brown was not arrested or charged with any crime, and his name was not mentioned in any of the police department’s official reports following the incident.

Palm Beach Police Capt. Curtis Krauel told the Palm Beach Post newspaper, “We have no indication that Zac Brown was involved in any criminal investigation and that’s why he wasn’t in the police report.”

“I did not know these people and had no idea that there were drugs in their possession,” Brown added in the statement on his website. “I cooperated fully with the authorities and am not part of any ongoing police investigation. Everyone is responsible for their actions, and I regret using poor judgment and putting myself in that position.”

Most importantly, Brown tried to put the focus back on his music and the good he does through his charities.

“I am focused on continuing to make great music for my fans, and on representing my family and community well with our philanthropic work,” Brown wrote. “And next time I’ll make sure to remember what my dad taught me.”
