From its January launch in Canada through shows at iconic venues such as the Beacon Theatre in New York City and the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CMT’s 2016 Next Women of Country Tour brought four of America’s brightest singer-songwriters on a triumphant coast-to-coast journey.
CMT first launched its Next Women of Country campaign in 2013 to call additional attention to the music females are creating in what was becoming a male-dominated format. The campaign has showcased emerging female artists, including Kacey Musgraves, Cassadee Pope and Ashley Monroe. In 2015, CMT expanded the franchise to include its first-ever female-powered tour featuring Jana Kramer and Kelsea Ballerini.
Powered by the artists own recollections via social media, here’s a look back at the 2016 CMT Next Women of Country Tour which recently wrapped up in Oklahoma.
