Jason Isbell Leads Americana Music Nominees

Artist of the Year Contenders Include Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton, Lucinda Williams

Jason Isbell grabbed nominations in three categories to emerge as the top contender when the nominees were announced Wednesday (May 11) for the 15th annual Americana Music Association’s Honors and Awards.

Nominated for artist of the year alongside Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton and Lucinda Williams, Isbell is also up for album of the year for Something More Than Free and song of the year for “24 Frames.”

In addition to a performance by the Milk Carton Kids, who announced the nominations during an event at the Mansion on O Street in Washington, D.C., the press conference also featured songs from Margo Price, Lucinda Williams and the duo of mandolinist Sierra Hull and bassist Ethan Jodziewicz. The event was streamed live on NPR Music’s Facebook page.
