Brad Paisley Sings Of Restroom Equality In “Sit By Your Man”

“Hike Up Your Dress and Take a Stand”

It’s highly doubtful that Brad Paisley will play his new parody song on North Carolina’s controversial bathroom bill when the Life Amplified World Tour visits the Tarheel State in September. But it made for hilarious late night television on Wednesday’s (May 25) Jimmy Kimmel Live.

When Kimmel asked what current events he sings about, Paisley busted out an acoustic guitar and flipped Tammy Wynette’s “Stand by Your Man” into a little ditty on restroom equality, “Sit by Your Man.”

The best parts were Paisley’s “Kimmel for Vice President” t-shirt and his lyrics rhyming Carolina with the holiest of holies.

North Carolina’s recently-passed law has come under fire for restricting protections for members of the LBGT community. The new law says bathrooms or locker rooms are for use only by people based on their biological sex and declares that state law overrides all local ordinances concerning wages, employment and public accommodations. Governor Pat McCrory signed House Bill 2 into law in response to an ordinance in Charlotte, which allowed transgender individuals to use a public bathroom of their choice.
