Luke Bryan on Feeling Red Dirt Rich and Flint River Paid

Farm Tour 2016 and New EP Land This Fall

Summertime on Georgia’s Muckalee Creek will take center stage when Luke Bryan performs his newest hit “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” on the 2016 CMT Music Awards, airing live from Nashville Wednesday (June 8) at 8 p.m. ET.

Bryan co-wrote the song on one of his Farm tours with the Peach Pickers songwriting team (and fellow Georgia natives), Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip, to express how the great outdoors shaped him into the man he is today.

At rehearsals for the show, Bryan said the explanation behind the song’s lyrics, “Red dirt rich and Flint River paid,” is simple.

“It’s just a country lifestyle where you feel rich inside,” Bryan said pointing to his heart. “And then ‘Flint River paid,’ is when you go float down the river and load your live well up with some brim, some catfish and go home with a bounty to fry.”

Bryan is pretty much a master at angling country stars onboard fishing boats. Last summer, he went deep sea fishing with Jason Aldean and Dierks Bentley and caught delicious-looking bass with Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook last fall.

The eight-city Bayer Presents Luke Bryan Farm Tour 2016 starts Oct. 5 in Gaston, South Carolina, and an accompanying Farm Tour EP is due this fall. As in previous years, a portion of the ticket proceeds will fund college scholarships for students from farming families in each community on the tour.
