This is what happens when you invited Luke Bryan to come visit with Today show hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.
There will be drinking, joking and storytelling. And Bryan might get a word in edgewise.
The hosts did most of the talking Monday morning (June 20), but Bryan did get to discuss his drinks of choice (anything but Scotch), how he is able to look so fresh after barely three hours of sleep (caffeine) and what it’s like to have his boys out on the road with him a little bit this summer (everybody wins).
Then he told a story about his Sunday night show at the Buckeye Country Superfest in Columbus, Ohio.
“Crazy night last night,” he said of his show for 50,000 country fans, the majority of who were also Cleveland Cavaliers fans missing game seven of the NBA finals to be at his show. “I’m in middle of my song ‘Play It Again,’ and my stage guy goes, ‘The Cavaliers just won.’ I stopped my song and I went, ‘Cavaliers won!’”
He described the crowd’s reaction as pandemonium.
“Beers are flying … and clothes are flying,” he laughed.
But by the end of the Today segment, when he was reflecting on being able to live the life he’s living, he simply said, “At the end of the day, we’re all overly blessed.”
