Luke Bryan Reflects on Being an American

“Somebody Who Stands Up"

God bless America, and God bless Luke Bryan.

According to Bryan, this is what it means to be an American:

“I think the definition of an American is somebody who stands up during the Pledge of Allegiance and stands up when ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is being sung,” he said in a recent radio interview, “and just appreciates what all the fallen heroes and soldiers have done to keep us living in a country that’s free where we have the right to do anything we want.”

He also admitted that on Independence Day, he usually played a key role in his family’s fireworks display.

“Some of my favorite Fourth of July memories were spent on Lake Blackshear down in Georgia with my family," Bryan explained. "I was always kind of in charge of driving home from Tennessee and picking up all the fireworks. And my nieces and nephews always got excited when I rolled in, because they knew I had all the fireworks."
