Luke Bryan on Going Over the Hill

Believes Growing Old Is a Privilege

Wishing Luke Bryan a happy early birthday might not be the best idea in the world. When he turns 40 on Saturday, July 17, he will be on tour in Bangor, Maine, and he’s not so thrilled about going over the hill.

“It’s tough,” he admitted at rehearsals before the 2016 CMT Music Awards. “I took 30 hard. Forty is tough.”

“It gets me,” he said. “I want to be like 35 forever … because you’re young enough to be cool. Anyway, my wife Caroline says growing old is a privilege, and it is. But I can’t do Spring Break shows anymore without being the creepy old guy.”

No matter his age, Bryan will never grow out of the old fashioned country fun he loves most like fishing. He keeps a boat on the gulf and he has a couple of bass lakes in Tennessee. And he loves company on the water. His son Bo recently caught a shark on a deep sea fishing trip last week, while dad caught an alien-looking trumpet fish.

New Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day apparel with Bryan’s lifestyle line, 32 Bridge, is available now at Cabela’s.
