Jerry Greer Died Following Boating Accident in Tennessee

The body of Jerry Greer, the 19-year-old son of singer-songwriter Craig Morgan and wife Karen Greer, was recovered Monday evening (July 11) following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Humphreys County, Tennessee.

According to The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville, Greer and a friend had been tubing on the Tennessee River near Kentucky Lake on Sunday afternoon when they fell into the water. Greer was reportedly wearing a life jacket, but he never resurfaced. An extensive search involving multiple law enforcement agencies and more than 20 boats began late Sunday afternoon and continued throughout the day Monday.

A 2016 graduate of Dickson County High School, Greer was a star athlete who planned to play football for Marshall University in the fall.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by sister Aly Beaird and brother-in-law Ryan Beaird, brother Kyle Greer and fiancé Chelsea Rogers and brother Wyatt Greer.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

“The family is grateful for the outpouring of support and requests prayers at this time as they privately mourn this terrible loss,” according to a statement from Morgan’s publicist.
