It’s not like she wasn’t friends with her guitar, her pen and her paper. But it sounds like Miranda Lambert had a whole year to kind of get reacquainted with those three.
As her brand new single “Vice” was released this week, she shared her thoughts about the music-making process with her fans and followers.
“The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing,” she says. “It’s been one of learning to be honest, accepting the flaws, celebrating the smiles and finding peace in dark places.”
She’s had some time alone, and she’s faced her fears and feelings. “All of them,” she admits in her most honest social media post to date.
“I got to know my guitars…became friends with a pencil and paper…used melodies to lead me places I had never been…. made music with my friends.”
The bottom line for an artist like Lambert is that, as she says, music is medicine. And the accompanying screen shot of her new song at the top of the iTunes charts proves that her fans agree with her.
“This means the world to me,” Lambert said. “Thank you for joining me on this journey. #vice #musicismedicine”
