“I was such a shy kid,” Morris told CMT. “Watching her be so quick-witted and always have a comeback or something funny to say, it made me think, ‘Oh, I can do that someday. I’ll just get out of my shell.’”
And she did — and then set her sights on Nashville.
The Arlington, Texas, native always knew she wanted to be in Music City. She’s been performing music since she was 10 and writing since age 12. Naturally, Nashville seemed like a natural move if she wanted to grow as a songwriter, but that’s just one of gifts she’s received.
“I made so many of my friends in those writing rooms,” she said.
Morris’ debut album Hero is now available. Enjoy her exclusive performance of the album’s hit single, “My Church,” for CMT’s Next Women of Country Live.
