RaeLynn was always destined to be a star.
She had all the necessary preparation, thanks in large part to a childhood filled with great music.
During her recent CMT Next Women of Country Live performance, the Texas native said her dad listened to all the greats, including Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard and Patsy Cline.
“He loved Patsy Cline. I always remember him crushing Patsy Cline. It was kind of like his undercover crush, I don’t think he wanted anyone to know he listened to Patsy,” she said with a laugh.
RaeLynn’s gal was always Dolly Parton, but she also loved artists such as Coldplay, Muse and Beyoncé, all of whom have influenced her sound and impacted her in many ways, too.
RaeLynn got her first taste of the national spotlight as a contestant on The Voice. After the show wrapped, she moved to Nashville at just 18 years old to continue growing as an artist. Even though she only knew a handful of people, she quickly won over the songwriting community and found herself writing every day.
Now, Nashville is home.
“If you would’ve have told me six years ago or even seven when I was living in Baytown — helping out with the church, just hanging out with no idea of what I was going to do with my life — that I would be here today, I would have told you you’re crazy.”
