Kenny Chesney to Receive BMI President’s Award

Honor Will Be Presented at BMI Country Awards Nov. 1

Kenny Chesney will receive the BMI President’s Award at the 64th annual BMI Country Awards on Nov. 1 at the organization’s Nashville headquarters.

The honor is presented to songwriters who have distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry with their music. Past recipients include Toni Braxton, Brooks & Dunn, Gloria & Emilio Estefan, Adam Levine, Willie Nelson, P!nk and Pitbull.

Since he signed his first record contract with Capricorn Records 23 years ago, Chesney has accumulated 28 No. 1s and has sold more than 30 million albums. His next studio collection, Cosmic Hallelujah, lands Oct. 28.

Along with Chesney’s President’s Award, the BMI awards for country songwriter, song and publisher of the year will be revealed during the invitation-only event. The night will also honor the songwriters and publishers of 2016’s 50 most-performed songs.
