Miranda Lambert: “What a Life”

It looks like Miranda Lambert has taken the time to stop and smell the bonfire.

In her Instagram post from very early on Monday morning (Oct. 3), she has a photo of a roaring outdoor fire and writes, “She keeps the home fires burning,” from the 1985 Ronnie Milsap hit.

But then she goes on to chronicle her part few weeks of shows she’d seen, festivals she’d attended, beers she’d shared and workouts she’d done (with a little motivation from Britney Spears) since getting off the road when her own Keeper of the Flame tour wrapped.

“After a few weeks of down time and in my road-weary haze after tour, I’ve been able to sit back and get inspired. I saw @johnmoreland at @americanafest in Nashville, @andersoneast and @lakestreetdive at the @chicagotheatre , attended the @pilgrimagefestival in Franklin TN, preordered my friend @brent_cobb album “Shine On Rainy Day” (it’s amazing and will be released Oct 7) …had beers with my friend @aubriesellers in Texas, worked out to @britneyspears “Work Bitch”, obsessed over Lemonade… AGAIN! @beyonce,” Lambert wrote.

But it wasn’t just live music that inspired Lambert. For that, all she has to do was go home.

She celebrated her maternal grandmother’s 80th birthday with 14 of her best gal pals, who Lambert described as “all over 65 and full of life, love and stories that can’t be repeated! (Or shouldn’t be on social media for sure).”

“Needless to say…What a life. Thanks music IOU several,” she wrote, before ending the post with an array of emojis and ten clever hashtags: #keeperoftheflame #allworkallplay #musicismedicine #theweightofthesewings #tourlifestyle #downtimeatwork #windycity #namedropping #grandmasandguitars #anchor

Alison makes her living loving country music. She's based in Chicago, but she's always leaving her heart in Nashville.
