Kenny Chesney Will Receive CMA Pinnacle Award

Releases 'Cosmic Hallelujah' Oct. 28

Kenny Chesney has been named the third recipient of the CMA’s Pinnacle Award. The East Tennessee native will accept the honor live at the 50th annual CMA Awards.

According to the organization, the honor “recognizes an artist who has achieved global prominence through concert performances and record sales at levels unique in country music. The artist has also attained the highest degree of recognition within the broad expanse of music worldwide. The artist’s talent and presence will have a long-term positive impact on the appreciation of Country Music for generations to come.”

Chesney will release his 17th studio album Cosmic Hallelujah on Friday (Oct. 28), featuring his hit collaboration with P!nk, “Setting the World on Fire.”

He has won eight CMAs including four for entertainer of the year. His eighth studio album When the Sun Goes Down won album of the year in 2004. The “You and Tequila” video won music video of the year in 2011. He shares musical event wins for “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” and “Feel Like a Rock Star” with Tracy Lawrence and Tim McGraw, respectively.

Previous Pinnacle Award honorees are Garth Brooks and Taylor Swift. Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood will co-host the 50th annual CMA Awards live from Nashville on Nov. 2 on ABC.
