Eric Church’s new live album Mr. Misunderstood On the Rocks Live & (Mostly) Unplugged will be available exclusively at Walmart on Nov. 4. The release coincides with the one-year anniversary of the surprise release of his latest album Mr. Misunderstood, which landed right before the 49th annual CMA Awards last year.
Closing with a version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” the On the Rocks Live collection features seven songs recorded live during August’s two-show run at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.
Additionally, Church and his wife Katherine surprised Saturday’s (Oct. 22) JDRF’s Hope Gala in Charlotte, North Carolina, to present a $1 million donation from their non-profit Chief Cares to fund type 1 diabetes research through JDRF.
The cause hits close to home for Church, whose mother Rita Church is a type 1 diabetes patient. That night, Rita and Church’s father, Ken Church, were honored with the JDRF’S Living and Giving Award for their dedication to the cause.
It is Chief Cares’ largest donation to date and the non-profit continues aid six townships in Haiti devastated by Hurricane Matthew.
Church starts the 60-city 2017 Holdin’ My own Tour on Jan. 13 in Lincoln, Nebraska and wraps with a two-night stand in Nashville starting May 26.
