When I read the first few words that Brad Paisley tweeted on Thursday night (Nov. 17), my heart sank.

"We are so touched by the outpouring of sympathy for Kim's mom," he wrote of his wife's mother's passing. "Thank you all. After her long battle with this terrible disease, she is free."

And Kimberly Williams-Paisley shared a great photo of her mother Linda on Instagram.

"I will remember you this way, Mom. Rest in love and peace. Linda Williams: June 22nd, 1943-November 16, 2016," she wrote, with the hashtag #endalz.

Kimberly had written an honest and loving book about her mom's fight with Alzheimer's, Where the Light Gets In: Losing My Mother Only to Find Her Again.

I'd interviewed Kimberly back in April when the book came out, and she told me that while she'd struggled with the diagnosis for years, she was getting used to the new life with her mom.

"When I’m with her now, I have to let go of that ghost of my mom as she used to be, and just embrace this new person," she'd told me. "That’s been liberating,"
