Bonnie Bishop Begs for “Mercy”

Texas Native Brings a Bluesy Groove in New Video

Bonnie Bishop is bringing the blues.

With a powerful, soulful voice that aches and cracks with experience and authenticity in all the right places, Bishop is one of the most dynamic vocalists to emerge onto the Americana landscape in recent years.

Sure, she’s always been a formidable songwriter. Remember the heartbreakingly haunting “Not Cause I Wanted To” on Bonnie Raitt’s Grammy-winning Slipstream album? Yeah, Bishop wrote that. She’s done the artist thing before, too, spending hundreds of nights on the road as a one-woman alt-country operation for many years.

And although she’s always been great, you’ve never heard her quite like this. This soulful Bonnie we’re now hearing is the real Bishop, reborn after taking a break from the road for some personal reflection.

With the help of her friend and now label president David Macias and producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell), Bishop is back and better than ever, sparkling like a diamond in her new blues-drenched outfit and attitude.

See Bishop and her band in action in her new video “Mercy,” a sultry tune from her latest album, Ain’t Who I Was.
