Sun Records follows Sam Phillips, played by Chad Michael Murray, who moves to Memphis to start his own recording studio where he winds up creating a whole new sound with the likes of Elvis, Ike Turner, B.B. King, Johnny Cash and many more. It’s a coming-of-age story in a time when racism was running rampant. These kids want to follow their hearts and, while doing so, break the cultural norm.
Kevin Fonteyne, who plays a young Johnny Cash, explains, “That’s what music does. It gets rid of all cultural barriers. Of all language barriers. You hear a song, and that’s it.”
Watch Chad Michael Murray, who plays Sam Phillips, and the rest of the cast bring you the history of Sun Records.
