The finalists have been selected and fan voting is underway for the 17th annual NSAI Song Contest presented by CMT.
The Top 11 songs were selected by a panel of industry judges, including award winning songwriters and pros from the Nashville Songwriters Association International. The finalists were based on lyrics, melody and composition. Performance and production were not evaluated.
Music fans, including family and friends, have the opportunity to log-on, listen and vote for their favorite song at the NSAI Song Contest voting page. Voting continues through Feb. 28.
The CMT Listener’s Choice Award grand prize winner will receive a mentoring session with Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Charles Kelley, who is also a member of Lady Antebellum. The winner also receives a $5,000 cash prize and a three-day trip to Nashville, including roundtrip airfare on Southwest Airlines and two nights of hotel accomodations at Loews Vanderbilt Plaza.
The prize package also includes a single song contract with Round Hill Music and live performance opportunities, including slots at the 2017 Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival and at The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.
A lyric-only winner will receive a 60-minute mentoring session with songwriter Rodney Clawson, whose No. 1 hits include “Drink on It” (Blake Shelton), “Drunk On You” (Luke Bryan) “Feel Like a Rockstar” (Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw), “Helluva Life” (Frankie Ballard), “Lettin’ the Night Roll” (Justin Moore), “Bartender” (Lady Antebellum), “American Kids” (Kenny Chesney), “Dirt” (Florida Georgia Line) and “Burnin’ It Down” (Jason Aldean). Clawson was named 2013 and 2015 NSAI songwriter of the year, and BMI named him songwriter of the year in 2013 and 2015.
Additionally, 10 runner-up awards and 10 honorable mention awards will also be decided online.
