If ever there was a champion for truth in life and music, it would hands-down be Charlie Worsham.
After releasing his debut album in 2013, Worsham admittedly had fallen out of love with music and lost his way a bit. Quality time spent honestly reflecting and consistently journaling led him to rediscover his musical purpose: telling the truth and telling his story boldly and sincerely to positively impact others.
Now he’s encouraging us to do the same with his “theme song,” the brand new single “Cut Your Groove,” an uplifting and mighty ode to staying the course and never giving up.
“I believe music’s purpose is two words: ’me, too’,” he told CMT Hot 20 Countdown.
“You hear someone singing a song and you go, ’Me, too,’ and you’re going, ’OK, I’m not alone in this.’ And country music especially, when you start listening to the greats, whether it’s George Jones or Merle Haggard, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, all of their biggest songs were the heavier things that they stood up and said, ’Hey, me, too.'”
The empowering lyrics of Worsham’s stunning debut track were put into motion in the heartwarming video directed by Sam Siske.
For all of us, Worsham’s message is the same: Do your thing, be yourself, know your worth, believe in your dreams and be happy. Embrace the struggles, the downs as much as the ups. The truth is that life is about the journey, not the destination.
“Cut Your Groove” is featured on Beginning of Things, Worsham’s just-released sophomore album.
