2017 iHeartCountry Festival Hits Austin, Texas

Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town and More Play Fourth Annual Event

The 2017 iHeartCountry Festival on Saturday (May 6) played out like a big family reunion at Austin’s Frank Irwin Center.

Eight of the acts that played — including Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Brantley Gilbert, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Jake Owen, Rascal Flatts and Darius Rucker — have been on the bill before since the event’s 2014 launch. The night also included performances by Kelsea Ballerini, Bobby Bones & the Raging Idiots, Kip Moore and Old Dominion.

According to Austin 360, each act played a 20-minute set, so there was little room for error (or spontaneity) throughout the five-hour show. Highlights included Lady Antebellum singing the title track of their upcoming album Heart Break, Ballerini singing Elle King’s parts on Bentley’s “Different for Girls,” and the Idiots’ performance of “Buy Me a Boat” with surprise guest Chris Janson.

Leading up to the show, crowds packed the Daytime Village for outdoor performances by Janson, Moore, Tucker Beathard, Kane Brown, Lindsay Ell, Kip Moore and Jon Pardi.

Celebrities spotted at the event included Sun Records actor Chad Michael Murray, dancer Whitney Carson, actress Olivia Culpo and Scott Eastwood.
