The Mavericks are giving hope and light to a broken world in “Brand New Day,” the title track of their latest album.
Drawing parallels between a relationship on the edge and the state of the greater world, the music video brings the latter center stage and sets out to crush the negative and antiquated ideologies of times past, ushering in a brighter, more loving and accepting way of believing and living.
Directed by Trey Fanjoy, the video is visually stunning, incorporating a beautiful troupe of dancers who each represent a social issue dividing and plaguing our world. As the song moves forward, words like homophobia, xenophobia, racism and hunger that are painted on the dancers transform into the words freedom, courage and hope to drive home the thematic elements of the video’s message: universal love.
Love, and hope and courage — it’s a reminder to us all that we must be the change we want to see in the world. Change starts with you and me. We are the only ones who can begin the move into a brand new day.
