Timing is everything. That may be why
Kenny Chesney's "Me and You" changed my life.
It's not deep, just a sweet love song about a man and woman suited perfectly for eternity, backed with nice piano. I was a
newlywed at the time it was a hit, so it was relatable, as they say. But
Chesney
has his own list of songs that changed his life. Like
John Mellencamp's
"Small Town," the
Eagles' "Take It Easy" and Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good."
Who didn't love those classics? He's also got some old-school country on his list, like
Hank
Williams Jr.'s "Come and Go Blues" and
Merle Haggard's "Misery and Gin." (He used
to cover that one back when he was playing little clubs in the early days, and
Tim McGraw
refers to it in his own "Train #10.") Then he goes on to list some
Bruce
Springsteen, U2, Van Halen,
Jimmy Buffett and Bob Marley songs.
When your life has been about the music for so many years, like Chesney's has, it must be hard to narrow it down to ten. I
wonder which songs almost made the cut?
