Zac Brown Band
It makes sense that the only other artist to ever be nominated for both the new artist and the entertainer of the year at
the CMA Awards would be another insanely talented musician. The
Zac Brown
Band is following in
Ricky Skaggs' legendary footsteps. Skaggs was
the first artist to get that double nomination back in 1982, just one year after the newcomer category was introduced. It's
an odd-but-awesome position to be in: You are still early enough in your career to be considered new, yet established enough
to be considered for the biggest award of the night. Back in 1982, when the new artist award was still called the Horizon
Award, Skaggs did win.
Alabama won the entertainer of the year award that
night, though. Skaggs had to wait until 1985 to bring that trophy home. So, enough history. Let's look ahead. Do you think
Zac Brown Band can bring home both awards in November?
