Zac Brown Band
Zac Brown Band's "Colder Weather" caught my attention for the first time
last year, when the group played the Ryman. Perfect timing for a song like that. Four months later, I saw the band's
headlining
set at Merlefest in Wilkesboro, N.C., and Brown called it one of his favorite songs he's ever written. I'd agree. It's
my top pick on the band's new album,
You Get What You Give. The melody is just moody enough without being melodramatic
while the lyrics leave me feeling a little bit lonely. And as a Nebraska native, I can picture that frozen truck stop just
outside of Lincoln. Heck, I may have fueled up there a time or two. If you happen to have a winter road trip ahead, bundle
up this playlist of new, mostly independent music, led by "Colder Weather." There's a lot of bluegrass on here, too. By the
way, if you're a fan of the steel guitar, don't miss the last two tracks featuring the magnificent
Lloyd
Green.
