OFFSTAGE: Who Follows Who? A Twitternalysis
(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

Say you had 4,655,021 people following your every tweet, like Taylor Swift does. It would be nearly impossible to follow all of your followers on Twitter. So it makes sense that Swift only follows 48 people, including the folks in her band plus Cory Monteith, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Kellie Pickler and a handful of others. But then you look at a band like Lady Antebellum, and they seem to take the opposite approach. They follow 23,151 of their 210,101 followers. But if you know anything about Twitter, you know it would be close to impossible to actually read all the tweets of all those followers. But still, it probably makes those 23,000 people feel good knowing Lady A cares what's on their minds. Here are a few more followers-to-follows ratios from the country world:

Miranda Lambert: 158,313 followers/41 follows with mostly stars and then one guy who calls himself NotJakeOwen.

Lambert's dog Delilah: 1,917 followers/439 follows

Jason Aldean: 57,441 followers/10 follows, including mostly other guys from country music, like Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan.

Brad Paisley: 162,344 followers/46 followers. On his short list are other artists, celebs, his wife and then oddly enough, someone called HotAmishChick.

Blake Shelton: 148,818 followers/176 follows, and his list seems to include more fans than stars.

Kenny Chesney: 588,721 followers/21 follows

Keith Urban: 134,317 followers/10,078 follows. He has too many follows to try to determine any kind of pattern, but it looks like a mix of fans, stars, labelmates and media folks.
