(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
Maybe it was the Gwyneth Paltrow's kind-of-gone-country factor, but so many country stars on the recent CMA Awards red carpet were giving their opinions on which Hollywood stars would make good country singers someday. (As opposed to the opposite, where country stars go Hollywood. Yes, Tim McGraw and Toby Keith, we're talking to you.) I don't know if all the stars were serious about their answers, but I agree with a few. Like Blake Shelton, who'd like to see Zooey Deschanel do it. Did you hear her singing "Baby, It's Cold Outside" when she played Jovie in the film, Elf? What a voice. And David Nail wants Lady Gaga to give country a try. That would certainly keep things interesting. Then Justin Moore said Rachel McAdams -- because he's in love with her. And Luke Bryan said Nicole Kidman was a no-brainer. But I think I remember Kidman saying she can't sing, so maybe Bryan was just trying to win points -- and maybe an opening slot on tour with Keith Urban.
