"This is a country song," Jimmy Fallon said Thursday night (Dec. 16) on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, when he was introducing a self-penned Christmas tune. He even brought out John Rich, who'd decked his halls with head-to-toe red velvet and some kind of gold leather-like cowboy boots, to duet with him. Fallon looked like a hot George Strait, in a suit and tie and proper black cowboy hat. And when the song started, it was all about peace and joy and happiness and wonderment and cheer. But then it quickly gets into the less festive reality: spending countless hours with your family -- and that's why "I'm drinkin', drinkin', drinkin', I'm gonna drink all day." It may not have all the Currier & Ives images of a traditional timeless classic, but it's hard to argue with lyrics that rhyme bi-polar with sober and "Cut the crap and get some Jack/And put it in my soda/And make it strong enough to put a reindeer in a coma." I'll drink to that.
