OFFSTAGE: The Situation Learns From Little Big Town

(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)

I think the lesson here is, don't send a Situation to do a journalist's job. But, still, it makes for good television. It was on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Monday (Feb. 14) during a segment called "The Situation Goes to Grammy School," when Jersey Shore star Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino grabbed a microphone and did a handful of red-carpet interviews. And first up was country's Little Big Town. He didn't even know what Grammy they were nominated for (country performance by a group or duo for "Little White Church"), because he admitted, "I'll be honest with you, I might've missed it." At least he was candid, right? He even told the group, "I don't mind country," which is kind of like the worst back-handed compliment. But God love Little Big Town because they schooled the Situation in their Southern ways. When he asked them to tell him something in country that no one else would know, they explained the term "kyarn." It means something that smells bad and comes from the word "carrion," which means the decaying flesh of an animal. "Man, we got a lot of kyarn in Jersey," said the Situation.
