A show that shines a light on the kindness of others is already so moving. Then you throw Brad Paisley into the mix, doing that powerful old Glen Campbell hit, "Try a Little Kindness," and it's an all-out cry fest. That's what happened to me during Monday night's (March 28) TV tribute to former President George H.W. Bush, All Together Now: A Celebration of Service. That song, about helping a brother with a heavy load and a sister falling by the way, made me want to reach out and help someone immediately. In a kindness-can-be-contagious, pay-it-forward kind of way. And I think George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton must love the 1969 hit, too, because halfway through the first verse, they shared a smile and some conversation. I couldn't hear them, and I can't read lips, but I think what they said was something like, "God, I love this song" and then maybe, "Who better to cover Glen Campbell than Brad Paisley?" Regardless of what they were saying, the message of the song -- try a little kindness then you overlook the blindness of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets -- never gets old.
