For sure, I would have thought Blake Shelton would be at the very top of Blake Shelton's list. But on this radio show that's running on Sirius XM this weekend, Shelton does a list of his Top 10 Voices in Country Music, and he is not even on it. There are male voices who sound kind of like Shelton does, like Conway Twitty. And he does have a good mix of classic and brand new voices in there. Like George Jones, Earl Thomas Conley and Con Hunley and then Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert. It's hard to argue with the list, but I was somewhat surprised to see that other than Travis Tritt (who I adore but who hasn't had a Top 10 hit since 2002), none of the men he chose were very current. Which could mean that Shelton just doesn't have a lot of time to catch up on the new guys or that his love of the genre goes a lot deeper than whoever is on mainstream country radio right now.
