(CMT Offstage keeps a 24/7 watch on everything that's happening with country music artists behind the scenes and out of the spotlight.)
"I've fallen in love with today's country music, because when I hear Lady Antebellum, who I adore, I hear Fleetwood Mac," Rob Lowe told reporters on the CMT Artists of the Year red carpet. That makes sense that Lowe would love Fleetwood Mac, since he was about 13 when they were in their absolute heyday, when Rumours came out in 1977.
"I hear all the music that I love. Which, when you think about it, is all harmony, melodic, songwriter, storytelling-driven music. And I love that." No wonder CMT wanted him to host the star-studded event. With all that love of country, Lowe was clearly the best man for the job.
Plus, even though Lowe admitted that he was scared he was going to fall into somebody's food, trip over the furniture, mispronounce a name and knock down some scenery, he did not. He did an excellent job, from what I hear. You can be the judge and see for yourself when the show airs Tuesday night (Dec. 13) exclusively on CMT.
