OFFSTAGE: Trace Adkins Changes Bulbs Without a Ladder

In the latest Man of the House feature in Good Housekeeping, here's the part that stood out to me: Trace Adkins is so tall (6'6") that he can change the light bulbs in his house without a ladder. It might not get any manlier than that.

And there is really a thread of masculinity running through the whole interview. When the magazine asks him what he does when he needs an escape, he says, "I get on my tractor and disappear. It's the most therapeutic machine ever invented." When they ask about being the only man in a house full of girls, Adkins says, "It goes against who I am to be interested in ballet."

And when he talks about having five daughters, this is what he thinks: "I could not make boys. After the last one, I said, 'OK, God, I get it. I quit!'" But to live amidst all that femininity, Adkins knows what he needs to do day in and day out. He always puts the toilet seat down.
