When Rob Lowe came to Nashville for the CMT Artists of the Year taping, he was kind enough to spend some time getting to the bottom of the issues. Like what an awards-show host should and shouldn't do. If he'll ever do Glee. And how he sounds in the shower. His responses should answer the really important question: How completely charming is Rob Lowe?
On the major "don't" list for hosts: "I don't think hosts should be drunk during the show. I don't think they should ask people for dates live on the air. Maybe wait until afterwards. I think they need to be careful with the ad libs. And you don't want to throw down with any a cappella singing."
On singing for friends: "I had a friend who turned 50, and so in their honor I sang Willie Nelson's 'Always on My Mind' ... to a man. True story, by the way. And that man was Kenny G. .... Barbra Streisand was there and she goes, 'What are you gonna do for Kenny?' I said, 'I'm singing a song,' and she goes, 'Don't.'"
On Glee: "I've been known to crank out a tune from time to time. Waiting for me on Glee? Is that was this is about? I can arrange it."
On shower singing sessions: "Everybody knows that the shower has the best acoustics. There's no two ways about it. I actually have a recording studio in mine. So look out, Kevin Bacon. You think you've got your fancy band. You've got nothing on my shower band."
