Where's a girl gonna go when her love's gone wrong? Country music. That's the only rationale I could muster up to explain Katy Perry's "Bullet," a song that recently started making the rounds on the Internet. That her separation from her husband of 13 months, Russell Brand, had her penning this kind of done-me-wrong song. It is country, through and through, starting with the banjo intro all the way through the banjo outro at the end. There's no twang in Perry's voice, but there are those undeniably country themes of mama warning her about boys like you and having a papa who packs heat. It could very well be a Miranda Lambert song, especially with the hook about being a bullet headed straight for your heart. I'd be wrong to think that Perry wrote this one with Brand in mind, though. She actually co-wrote it with the mildly country Jessie James back in 2009, for James' debut album, and this version is just her demo. Still. It's cool to hear what Perry would sound like if she did ever go country.
