We are never, ever, ever getting back together. Make that "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." That's the official name of the official new single off Taylor Swift's next album, Red, to be released Oct. 22.
Swift revealed the song and album cover during a live web chat Monday night (Aug. 13). Dressed appropriately in a red dress, red lipstick and red earrings (honestly, even the welting cord on the white chair was red), Swift said she named the album Red because the songs on the album are all emotions -- the really intense ones. "There's nothing beige about any of those feelings," she said.
Swift described the majority of the 16 tracks as being about the tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships she has experienced in the last two years. "And all those emotions spanning from intense love, intense frustration, jealousy, confusion -- all of that," she said. "And, in my mind, all of those emotions are red."
Later on in the 25-minute chat, after fans from all over the world asked questions, Swift played the new single. Introducing it -- very sarcastically -- as a really, really romantic song, really touching and sensitive, she said it was for her lovely ex-boyfriend. And with lyrics like "I'm really gonna miss you picking fights" and "I hate you, we break up, you call me, I love you," it is classic up-tempo Swift.
"We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is now available at iTunes and Google Play and will be released Tuesday (Aug. 14) at all digital retail outlets.
