Has Keith Urban gotten his golden ticket to American Idol? He's reportedly ready to sign on as a judge for the singing contest show that made Carrie Underwood and Scotty McCreery famous. After months of talk, gossip, vague innuendo, speculation and wishful thinking, the Hollywood Reporter is saying Urban has agreed to take a judge's seat on Idol for a salary of $3-$4 million. (They don't name their source for that salary information, though, so that figure could be way off.) Other country stars who have been considered for the invitation were Brad Paisley and Toby Keith. If everything happens the way it's being talked about in the media, then Urban would join Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey (and possibly Randy Jackson, whose fate on the show is still undetermined) at the judges' table. Since the auditions are over, I guess the judges would head straight to the Hollywood round and would be at their designated seats when the show premieres on TV in January, as it has for the last 10 years. Would this newly crowned group make you want to watch American Idol?
