"It ain't what you want, it's what you know. ... Same hurt in every heart/Same trailer, different park. ... Just like dust, we settle in this town." With lyrics like that, it's no wonder Rolling Stone gave newcomer Kacey Musgraves' debut single, "Merry Go 'Round," such a rave review. They wrote that it's as poetic and potent as any song released in 2012 and was an instant classic. I'm sure that someday she will be a household name. But so far, we don't know all that much about Musgraves. What I do know is that she was in the Top 10 on Nashville Star when Blake Shelton was a judge back in 2007. (Which is ironic, in a way, because he started judging four years after his future wife Miranda Lambert was a finalist on the show.) I also know she wrote the excellent Lambert song, "Mama's Broken Heart," and that her upcoming album is being co-produced by Luke Laird (the songwriter behind hits like "Pontoon," "Baggage Claim," "Last Name" and "Drink in My Hand").
