This is how you know Keith Urban's going to be a genuinely good judge on American Idol: He really, really loves music. He's not just an industry insider or a guy who is more into the business of the music business. He continues to be inspired by songs and not just country ones.
Urban recently posted his list of "the 12 songs that lodged in my head and inspired me this year!!" He added that, "I thought I'd attempt to single out some songs that I really loved this year for all kinds of reasons," and that it would be impossible to narrow it down to 12 without leaving out equally great songs for 2012.
I have to agree with him on "Dirt Road Anthem" and "Pontoon." And there are a few on this list I've never heard of, but I'll be downloading them today. That, I think, is the power of Keith Urban. If he loves a song, I know I'll love that song.
