Whenever someone claims to have discovered some secret to getting in shape, I think back to Cher's old commercials for a health club. "Face it. If it came in a bottle, everyone would have a good body," she used to say. And she's right. And so is Tim McGraw. He recently "revealed" his secret to Extra. And here it is: He works out. As if you hadn't noticed. But this is the first time I've heard him mention his workouts by name. He does CrossFit. "It is a way for us to hang out together when we are not playing. It is good for the band. We enjoy it," he said of the program designed to increase work capacity across broad time and modal domains. Or, put another way, short-but-intense sessions doing a mind-blowing variety of activities like sprinting, squatting, jumping rope, lifting weights, carrying weights, flipping tires, using kettlebells and medicine balls and doing things like farmer's walks and Tabata and inverted hangs. The official website claims this kind of workout is appropriate for everyone, even elderly individuals and cage fighters. And, now, country stars.
