I knew I was going to love this song from The Band Perry's new Pioneer album about halfway into the first verse. But I'll bet Marie Perry, mother to the three siblings who make up the trio, loved "Mother Like Mine" even faster. "It was a song the three of us wrote in honor of our mother. It tells what the world would look like if it was raised by her the way she raised us," Neil Perry wrote on Twitter.
And here's what that world would look like if Mrs. Perry had raised us all:
The wars would all be over because she'd raised everyone as friends.
No one would ever wonder if somebody wanted them.
Grass would be greener.
Cares would be freer.
Dreams would be deeper.
Dishes would all be cleaner.
I'm sure Mrs. Perry thinks the world of her three kids. But after hearing this song, it's obvious that they think the world of her, too. And I am so glad they wrote a song about it so everyone knows it's cool to love your mom.
