Carrie Underwood and Jake Owen have each other's back. That's what I learned after Sunday night's (June 9) night's evening concert of the 2013 CMA Music Festival in Nashville. The show had to end an hour early because of threatening weather, so some of the artists were only allowed to play a couple of songs to shorten their sets. Owen took to Twitter to apologize right after his performance, saying, "Sorry to all my fans that paid good money for #CMAFEST2013 tix. Due to the weather coming in, I was told to only play one song. I [love] you guys." Then someone on Twitter -- a bitter Owen fan, I'm assuming -- started trouble when she suggested that Owen's short set was a demand of Underwood's. But that wasn't true at all. So Underwood wrote back to explain: "Yeah ... that didn't happen. ... I just did what they told me to do. I love @jakeowen too." (That tweet, along with the fan's original accusatory one, have since been removed.) But I thought Underwood gently explaining the situation was absolutely the right thing to do. You can have the thickest skin in the world, but when someone starts telling lies about you, that just has to stop. Eventually, Underwood tweeted again, saying, "Why do people just make up stuff sometimes? Does it make them feel better? Mama taught me that's called a lie. ... I also call it a bummer." And Owen chimed in once more: "On a side note ... It wasn't @carrieunderwood fault I only played one song. She rocks. [Love] her. We all did what we were supposed to."
