Do all country singers love to hunt? Or is that just some kind of presumptuous rural cliché? I know that for Luke Bryan, that passion for hunting is really real.
We talked about the upcoming hunting season when he was in Chicago on Saturday (June 15), and how he was gearing up for it. "I loaded up on some new toys yesterday. I bought five guns. Mostly shot guns for bird, quail and dove hunting," he told me.
And while elk season is right around the corner, it sounds like Bryan is most looking forward to deer season. "November and December are core deer-hunting months. And when we do Texas hunts, we donate a lot of the deer to Hunters for the Hungry. But as soon as I get my farm going in Nashville, I'll probably get some processing stuff so I can process my own."
So yeah. I'd say hunting is a big part of who Bryan is. He told me that he and his wife Caroline are building a plantation home somewhere south of Nashville, with a guest house and a barn. I'm sure that eventually, their new home will be featured on the pages of a big glossy magazine. But they'll probably leave the boning, breaking, skinning and processing equipment out.
