Kip Moore's "Hey Pretty Girl" isn't just a song about the life of a love. It's a marriage proposal. And a wedding recessional. And a first dance. That's what he told me Sunday night (June 30) right before he took the stage in Chicago.

"It's becoming overwhelming," he said. "It seems like every day, people post stuff on Twitter and Facebook about how they're getting married to it, that it's their first dance song. I've even had a lot of guys tell me, 'Thanks for the song. I used it to propose to my girlfriend.'"

The song reminds me a little of Tim McGraw's 1994 hit "Don't Take the Girl" because it takes you down the road from the place where a guy and a girl first meet and follows them into the years and years of their love. But Moore said he wasn't thinking about marriage proposals when he wrote it.

"It came more from a place of me watching Dave [a guitar player in Moore's band] in the early stages of changing his life. He was pretty wild. Then I watched him settle down, and then now I watch him Skype with his wife and baby every night."

Moore doesn't have a pretty girl in his life right now, but if one came along, he'd be cool with that.

"For the longest time, I feel like I've been trying to dodge it because I've been so focused on my music. But I'm actually starting to look forward to it now," he said. "I think that's how we were all created. We want to go through life with somebody."
