Jason Aldean grew up on traditional country, and he still loves it. But he does not want to sing it all night long. "I love traditional country, but it's not something I particularly wanna go out and get onstage and sing for an hour and a-half every night," Aldean said in an interview with Radio.com. "I want it to be a little edgier than that." Citing "Take a Little Ride" as an example of that sound, he says, "It's a country song with country lyrics but with this edgy rock flavor to it where it's not just country served up right down the middle." That is exactly how I'd describe all of Aldean's songs -- and his shows, for that matter. He says in the interview that he works hard to make sure the show people see this year isn't like the one they saw last year. "You're out there on the road, and you see stuff every year, and you kinda get more ideas. You just try to change it up and make it better where people don't feel like they're coming to the same show every single year," he says. "Not only are you trying to outdo what you did the year before, but you're also trying to have as good if not a better show than anybody else on the road."
