I've never eloped, but isn't the whole idea to do it without telling anyone? So why, then, is Kelly Clarkson so forthcoming about the details of her un-wedding?
It sounds like she's still crazy about her fiancé Brandon Blackstock, but she is not so crazy about the fall wedding she was in the process of planning.
"We are so busy that we finally just came to terms the other night and were like, 'So, we change our minds and we want to elope.' We just got so overwhelmed by it -- all the decisions," the "Tie It Up" singer told People magagzine.
"We sent out a save-the-date to everyone, and then it got crazy and all the details were leaking. Then honestly the planning -- I have a Christmas record coming out. We have two kids (Blackstock's 12- and 6-year-olds) who just started school. We're going to all these football games and soccer games and volleyball games, and [Brandon]'s got one of the biggest artists in country music. He's flying everywhere."
So as a way to alert the would-be wedding guests of their change in plans, the couple just sent out a note to everyone saying, "Thank you so much for understanding, but it's just going to be me and Brandon and his two kids and the minister."
There will be a party, though, eventually. One of their friends is throwing them a party when they finish construction on their house. "He's throwing us a huge stock-the-bar party, so all of the people who were going to be at our wedding will be there." So, there's that.
