Taylor Swift is nominated in two categories at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. And they're two of the biggest ones -- video of the year and best female video of the year.
So Swift took a few minutes on the way into the show at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y, on Sunday (Aug. 25) to stop and chat with MTV's Sway. Right before she walked the red carpet, Swift had tweeted, "Headed to the VMAs. So. Excited." And it showed. She looked more classy than edgy in a floor-length, low-cut, elegantly-beaded navy blue dress and a retro-looking faux curly bob. The dress was by Herve Leger, and she completed the look with Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira jewels, Prada heels and a clutch from Smythson of Bond Street.
Swift's competition in the video of the year category are Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Wanz's "Thrift Shop," Bruno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" and Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell's "Blurred Lines." In the best female video group, Swift's up against Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko's "Stay," Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop," Pink featuring Nate Ruess' "Just Give Me a Reason" and Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack."
When Sway asked Swift about being the only female nominee in the video of the year category, she said, "I noticed that."
She added she was happy and felt very lucky to be in that group.
"I think winning anything would be just ideal," she said. "Anything. I'll take anything."
And since she is not performing at the show -- just presenting an award -- she said she was looking forward to hanging out with her friend Selena Gomez and watching Lady Gaga and Drake perform. And because two of the night's nominees -- Austin Mahone and Ed Sheeran -- were on the road with Swift during her non-stop Red tour, she said that right now she has a really happy tour roster.
What's next for Swift? She admitted she's "always" writing.
"But I think it's about to start to kick into full gear," she said. "I'm about to go into the studio. It's about to get really intense."
